Public events are planned in Kalispell, Butte and Missoula during what is likely to be the last small group visit by USS MONTANA crew to the Treasure State before SSN 794 moves to its home port of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Over the years of the nuclear-powered fast attack submarine’s construction, testing, commissioning, and training, crew members have visited communities, Indian reservations, farms, ranches and businesses and our scenic wonders throughout Big Sky Country. As they’ve done so, they have learned about Montana history, culture, diversity, economy, beauty and values – including courage – that they will carry with them in the future as they patrol and conduct missions in potentially dangerous waters.

While crew members will periodically return to different parts of Montana from Hawaii after their first Pacific Fleet deployments and missions, please join us at one of the coming events in mid-March to honor them! You’ll be able to visit with Commanding Officer Jon Quimby, or MONTANA’s 2023 Sailor of the Year, Machinist Mate Nuclear Nathaniel Fisher. And others. You’ll hear and be able to ask questions about mission training the crew has been doing, how the submarine and crew have been recognized as among the best, and much more.
